Mass Effect Live Action Movie

Mass Effect MovieThere have been talks of a movie adaptation of Mass Effect since quite a while. And when in January 2010 BioWare’s Casey Hudson, the project director on the most recent Mass Effect game, talked about a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect, it just reignited the buzz. Well, it's now confirmed: there's a live-action Mass Effect movie ahead of us, Legendary Pictures announced indeed that they bought the film rights! I've also heard that Scriptwriter Mark Protosevich (who once brought us 'I Am Legend') has been hired to pen the script of Mass Effect.

To give you an idea of what to expect with the movie Mass Effect here's trailer of Mass Effect 2 (the game):

Plot:
"The galaxy is trapped in an endless cycle of extinction. Every 50,000 years, an ancient machine race invades the galaxy. The machines wipe out all advanced organic civilization. They leave behind only the scattered ruins of technology, destroying all evidence of their own existence.
Few believe this ancient legend. Commander Shepard, however, know it to be true. The fight to stop this extinction event has become the most important mission in the galaxy. Aboard the SS Normandy, he will take his elite recon squad across a galaxy in turmoil, in a desperate race to stop the return of an enemy without mercy."

I've never played to the game, but I'm addicted to science-fiction so I can but welcome this live-action movie adaptation of Mass Effect! And for once I really hope they will produce the movie in 3D: just imagine how awesome a space opera movie like Mass Effect could be in 3D!
:)
